At each event, PBR bulls earn Fantasy Points based on how well they perform at that event. The bull that performs the best at any given event earns the most points and wins the event. In the Bull Trader game, you’ll choose a string of 7 bulls for each event you play, and just like real PBR contractors, you’ll go boom or bust depending on whether your herd of bull babies can hang with the best competition the PBR has to offer. You get the total Fantasy Points your string of bulls earns at that event. Points System. At each event, each bull entered has the potential of earning up to 100 points for that event. The points breakdown is as follows: BASE POINTS: Each bull starts with his base points, which are the average of what the judges marked him throughout the event. This will be a number from 0-50. Example 1: A bull is out once. Judges mark him 46 points. His base points for the event: 46 points Example 2: A bull is out twice. Judges mark him 46 on the first out, and 45 on the second. His base points for the event: 45.50 points. BONUSES: In addition to base points, each bull is eligible for bonus points in a number of categories, which we’ll go over one by one: Marking Bonus: The marking bonus rewards bulls that are marked high with a percentage of their marking. The scale looks like this. Note that bulls that average below 40 points are actually penalized - not rewarded.
High Marked Bull Bonus: The High Marked Bull Bonus rewards bulls whose base points equal or are close to the highest marked single out for that event. Here's the scale: HMO = the highest marked out at the event.
In addition to the High Marked Bull Bonus, a bull can also earn
points based on his highest marked single out. Again:
Bonuses for producing High Scores (or buckoffs): Bulls can also earn bonuses for producing high ride scores,
or for bucking off their riders. If a bull is ridden more than once, we use
the average of all the scores he produced to award bonus points.
Opponents Bonuses: This is the X Factor in the bonus points system. Each bull may earn bonus points for bucking off certain riders (obviously the ones do don't buck off so much). The points are awarded as follows
* Career for the purposes of this game is the career riding percentage of the rider in question from Jan 1, 2003 to present AT BFTS level events. ** Streak - refers to the most recent 15 BFTS bulls the rider has been on INCLUDING the event in question. This results in a maximum of 10 points per rider (if the bull had 50 base points). The way the Opponents Bonus is awarded however is adjusted for number of outs by the bull at the event. Bulls that have multiple outs are awarded their total Opponents Bonus divided by the number of outs. Bulls with only one out are awarded 90% of their total Opponents Bonus. And Lastly, the Outs Bonus. This one is simple: Each bull is awarded one point for each out, with a maximum of 3 points total. Sample Bulls: To give you an idea of how it works, lets look at a points breakdown for the top 5 Fantasy Points bulls at the Dale Jr. PBR Clash in Charlotte.
Game Strategy: Keep in mind that in our example (Charlotte) the best bulls are fairly close to each other in base points. There are events where one bull dominates by getting far more base points than the second place bull. At such an event, the dominant bull can take points away from the other bulls in the high mark bonuses, because he sets the mark so high that the other bulls aren't close enough to get those bonuses. This happened at Nampa, where White Magic won the event, and outscored the second place bull by 20 points. Obviously, you would want to have the dominant bull in your string for that event. You want to avoid choosing bulls that produce rerides, because reride outs are worth 0 points.
